If you follow Snowboarding, you're probably familiar with Rob Mathis. As one of the top Snowboard photographers in the world, his work has been seen in all the major publications for nearly two decades. Fortunately for us in karting, Rob is also an avid racer and race fan.
Rob began shooting photos after watching his Grandpa who always carried around a camera. He took the standard path, studying photography in high school and working in photo labs. The subject matter changed over the years, but quickly became focused on the skateboarding and snowboarding he and his friends were doing. Rob's talent behind the lens far outweighed his riding talents, and his friends were now becoming stars in the new sport of snowboarding. Rob landed the primary photographer gig at Forum snowboards and was able to document the changing of the sport from the local mountains to the city streets and the rebirth of jibbing. He has spent the past fifteen-plus years shooting some of the biggest names in the sport. In addition to shooting snowboarding, Rob went on assignment a number of times for KartSport magazine creating some stunning photos of the stars of our sport.
