I'm still trying to recover from the Supernationals.  More on that later.  But I have finally gotten through  the first edit of my shots and have posted a photo gallery.  If it seems a bit heavy on Schuey, well, duh.  You can find it in the photo gallery section.  Look for my recap in a few days.

Well, the first day of on-track activity is in the books.  As most of you probably have heard, the track we're running is not the track from last year.  It is pretty much the track from 2002 or 2003 (or whenever the last Supernats at the Rio were, I forget).  I don't know how other drivers feel about it, but for me this track is pretty dull with a pretty low degree of difficulty.  There's not much to separate the men from the boys so to speak.  On the other hand it is much "safer" and should drastically reduce the number of red flags from the TaGgers.

supernats13_logoWell, it's that time of the year again. Time for the big dance, the big kahuna, the 36 double-d's of kart races... The Superkarts! USA Supernationals at the Rio in Las Vegas. I say this every year because it's true. It just doesn't get any bigger, any badder or any better than this. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that this year is going to raise the bar even higher. I'm expecting Supernats XIII to blow the doors off of all previous versions.

Kimi Explains His Absence PDF Print E-mail

When it comes to F1, I'm a Kimi Räikkönen fan.  I like the way he races, but more than that, I like the fact that in a world of vanilla, politically correct, corporately groomed race drivers, Kimi is a bit of a throwback.  Sure, his monotone answers can be a bit dull and he may be an arrogant dick in real life, but how can you not like a guy who gives Martin Brundle this answer when asked why he missed a presentation where Pele was giving M. Schumacher some sort of award?

Calspeed Helmet Cam PDF Print E-mail

So it's Thursday and all of a sudden I get a call from my compadre Mike Beeny.  "Hey, I'm going to come down to Calspeed tomorrow so we can test this weekend."  Cool, I need the seat time before the Supernats and I've been itching to try out my new Contour HD helmet cam.  Sure, it's a bit last minute, but my schedule is nothing if not flexible.

So we spent Saturday and Sunday beating around Grande clockwise.  It's been about 20 months since I've driven Calspeed and I swear it's gotten substantially bumpier.  I think my brain may have partly liquefied from bouncing around inside my skull.  So I played with my new toy then popped open iMovie for the first time ever (in about 10 years as a Mac user) and threw together a video.  Look for a semi-in depth review of both the Contour HD and iMovie sometime this week.  In the meantime, enjoy my amateur hour first movie.
